Tenzin Phuntsog
Artist & Filmmaker
Tenzin Phuntsog is an artist and filmmaker working across deep time. Their practice spans narrative film, moving image installation, and archive. Their works navigate the space between what is lost and what persists — through surrogate landscapes, language, and the karmic weight of lives unfinished.
Their debut feature film Next Life had its world premiere at FID Marseille 2025, was selected for New Directors/New Films 2026, and was reviewed in The New Yorker. Next Life is set for theatrical distribution with Lunette Films. They are currently working on their second feature, Sentient Beings, with the support of the SFFILM FilmHouse Residency in San Francisco.
Their moving image installation work is represented by Microscope Gallery in New York. Their second solo exhibition, The Last Dream at the End of the World, was an Artforum Must-See exhibition and reviewed in Screen Slate. Recent exhibitions include Pure Land 2022, Berlinale Forum Expanded 2023, Seoul Media City Biennale 2023, and Gyatso Haus für Medienkunst, Germany 2024.
